How to remove Windows Genuine Advantage Notification Win XP

Quick step walk-through:

1. Ok the 1st you have to open `My Computer` 2nd go open `local disk`.
2. In local disk open the folder `WINDOWS` then in that folder open the folder `system32`.
3. In that folder look for the following executable file ` wgatray.exe`.
The fastest way to find it is just press the letter `w` on your keyboard and you'll be taken to the 1st file beginning with `w`, and the same with finding other files and folders etc...
4. Now delete that `wgatray.exe` file.
5. Now click the `start` button then click on `run`...
6. In the space type `regedit`.
If you already use or know how to get to what you want in registry editor just go straight to this:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS NT\CURRENT VERSION\WIN LOGON\ NOTIFY
7. Click on the `+` near the `winlogon` key. Then delete the `notify` key.
If you don't know how to get to the past targets watch carefully...
!! 8. Now restart your computer and congratulations if this worked!!!!! Hope this helped

"Here's some help to the people who can't? delete WGAtray.exe! What you want to do is click delete on the file, but don't confirm yet. Now go to task manager. Under processes, you should see wgatray.exe there. Now click end process, but don't confirm! Now, get both of the confirm boxes lined up so the 'Yes' selections are right behind each other. Get the task manager confirm box up in front, with the delete behind. Now double click the yes box. :)" - by PrinceYaviniv

"Hey guys,if you have difficulty solving this i have the solution.First, open up task manager.Locate wgatray.exe.Next search for wgatray.exe and move the file to the desktop.Cut the file to the desktop and not make? a shortcut.Next, proceed to delete wgatray.exe.Immediately after you delete it,proceed to task manager to end process of wgatray.exe.Please be informed that you have only a few seconds to do this or your deletion of the file will be unsuccessful.Next step remove it from the bin." - by pottythreat

"I had the same issue, you have to end the process? and then delete the file as fast as you can before the process starts again." - by Adprima

"Well, i found wgatray.exe. It didn't come up in the file that they listed above but when I did a windows search I found it. At first I also couldn't delete it, when I went into the control panel to end the process it would just start it again, so I ended it when deleted the file and as fast as I could so it didn't have a chance to start again and that worked." - by Adprima

"If? you can't delete, try using Unlocker." - by untipdincta
